Abstract
The rapid advancement of digital technology and the Fourth Industrial Revolution has profoundly transformed the legal profession, from the implementation of e-courts and blockchain-based smart contracts to the use of artificial intelligence in legal analytics. These shifts necessitate a reorientation of legal education in Indonesia towards a more competency-based and digitally responsive model. This study aims to analyze the challenges faced by Indonesian legal education and propose strategies for developing a curriculum that is adaptive to digital transformation. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method using a literature study approach, drawing upon primary sources such as legal regulations and secondary sources including academic literature and international journals. The findings reveal that Indonesian legal education remains dominated by normative-dogmatic approaches, leaving graduates underprepared for contemporary legal issues. A competency-based curriculum emphasizing digital literacy, soft skills development, and the integration of technology into legal training is urgently required. Furthermore, academic-practitioner collaboration is essential to enhance students’ practical competencies. The study highlights the importance of legal education reform to produce graduates who are not only theoretically proficient but also professional, adaptive, and globally competitive in the digital era.
